Moments of Mush.

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I celebrated 4 years together.  Now I'm not one for mush, but I thought I'd share some moments from our day together.  Brace yourself.  Actually don't, the photos are mainly of food.

Black and White Outfit for Spring

Remember my Spring Wishlist?  Well apparently it is no longer a wishlist because I ended up finding a majority of the items on it.  Most recently, this black and white blouse.  Aka my new favorite article of clothing.  I'm loving the black and white trend this spring, it looks so chic and clean (and is super easy to put together!).  This look could easily transfer to evening by adding some heels.  I seriously have about 10 outfits planned for this thing, so you will definitely be seeing it again.

Today I have the entire day off, which could not have come at a better time.  It's my boyfriend an I's 4 year anniversary today, so we have a few fun things planned.  It also looks like it will be beautiful out!  Huzzah for magical things all falling into place.

Easy Pinterest Project: Books Organized by Color

books organized by color
Stating the fact that Pinterest is inspiring isn't news to anyone.  So skipping ahead:  I've seen quite a few pins of books organized by color, which I just love!  I mean, who doesn't love a rainbow in their home?  If you've accumulated a lot of books, this is an easy, free, and fun way to add interest to your collection.

My apartment was originally a studio, but a while back one of the renters decided to put a wall up and make a bedroom.  For some reason, the walls around the bedroom don't go all the way up to the ceiling, leaving a random space.  I found it's the perfect place to shelve my books, and I love how they look along the hallway.  I always get compliments on my cleverness when people stop by, so I like that too.   Hah :)

Anyway, today I decided to tackle organizing these babies by color.  It was one of the most fun home updates I've done in a while, and took less than 30 mins!  Perfect for people who need instant gratification with their projects.....*cough*

Pretty isn't it?  Quick things where I can see the result right away are the most fun to do - If you guys have a favorite project let me know and leave a link!

What's in My Bag? + Giveaway Winner!

what's in my bag
The winner of the necklace is....Aleesa J!  Thanks everyone who entered, I'll be hosting another one soon!

I always love reading "what's in my bag" posts, and thought I should do one of my own!  The bag I'm currently using is this Michael Kors satchel.  I like it because of the classic shape and design, and it's large enough to hold all my stuff without being to bulky and obnoxious.  Here's what I have in it:
1.  2  pairs of sunglasses.
2.  Gum and Tic-Tacs
3.  iPod.  This thing is my life I can't work without it (dancer problems...)
4.  Choreography notebook & pen
5.  Hairbrush and a motley assortment of elastics and clips.
6.  Covergirl Lipstick, Clinique lipgloss, Carmex chapstick, and Bigelow mint lipgloss.
7.  Bath and Body Works Perfume.
8.  Ibuprophen.  (don't have time for headaches!)
9.  Deodorant.
10.  Covergirl powder, Sephora compact mirror.
11.  Assortment of electronic chargers and headphones.
12.  Change purse.

Other than my wallet and keys, that's about it.

What's in your bag?

I Went to the Jungle Dressed Like an Ice Cream Cone

mint green scarf pink jeans
Friday my boyfriend and I went on a garden store excursion to pick up some plants for Mother's Day.  I love these type of places, I remember being a little kid and thinking it was a jungle.  Me and my brother would hide in the plants and find tigers!  It was very exciting.  Maybe it's a little less exciting now, but I still love the smell of flowers!  It was such a sunny spring day out, and that inspired my outfit.  I love mixing colors, and the mint and pink together just made me smile.  So what if I look like multiple flavors of ice cream?

Thanks, Mom....

writing and a cappuccino

For coming to every dance recital, competition, dress rehearsal, and performance.  It was a lot. Teaching now makes me understand that, I was having too much fun at the time to realize how much of your life was spent in a theater.

For teaching me to always see the best in people.  Even if someone acts completely horrible towards you, you turn the other cheek.  It is so gracious.  I wish I could be more like that.  I don't think people quite realize what a strong woman you are .

For NOT giving me everything I wanted.  You taught me that if I want something badly enough, there is always a way to get it, and I will appreciate things more if I work for them.  I would not be where I am today if you hadn't let me suffer every once in a while.  You taught me to work hard, and never expect a handout from anyone.

For always encouraging my creativity.  I think being homeschooled had a lot to do with that.  Schoolwork outside? Sure.  Dancing in the store aisles?  Go for it.  Cookie baking break?  Yes.  I am always thinking outside the box and making one thing or another, mainly due to your openness to possibilities with just about everything.

Passing down your love of cappuccinos.  I'm drinking one as I write this.  I always think of you when I have a good cappuccino, and that ridiculously long list of specifics you used to have when ordering:  "non-fat,half-caff,almond-amaretto,something-or-other, with 2% milk (because it makes the best foam)"

Teaching me that good nutrition and healthy eating is important (before it was cool).  I was always jealous of my friend's pantries filled with junk food and soda, but now am thankful I don't need that and prefer to eat better.  (Un-thankful for the grocery bill though - organic is expensive!)

For your never ending support, no matter what I decide to do.  I don't think I could have accomplished all that I have so far without knowing you and Dad believe in me .  You never held me back, and I see the same thing with my younger siblings.  Each has their own ideas, plans, and way of life.  We are so completely different from each other, yet all the same in that we have two amazing parents who will support us, no matter what.

For all those things and so much more (because there is way more, but then this would really be a book).

Thanks, Mom.

Happy Mother's Day.

Love,
Elizabeth

Tag You're It! 5 Random Facts About Me

Elizabeth - Undeniably, me.

Alex, from Let Life be Like Music, tagged me in the 5 Random Things About Me tag.  It's pretty difficult to think of random things about yourself, more so than if I was writing about someone else.  Oh well here we go!

1.  I procrastinate.  The evidence is in this post, I was tagged 2 weeks ago!

2.  I design and crochet animal hats.  I got the idea to make a monkey one for my sister 2 winters ago.  Well, then everyone wanted one.  So I came up with all these little designs and now can make pretty much anything!  I also just realized that I don't take pictures of them....Oops.

3.  I adore cappuccinos.  There really isn't anything like a good one.  Takes me right to my happy place :)

4.  I can never just sit home and do nothing.  It's a blessing and a curse.  I'm always being productive, but if for some reason I do take time to relax and be lazy, I feel guilty for the "wasted" time.

5.  I'm a natural slob, but love being ultra-organized, so I'm teaching myself!  (With much help from Pinterest.)  I feel like it's a vicious cycle though, I will clean and organize my apartment to a sparkle, then will get busy (have to pick an outfit) and it looks like a tornado blew through.  Oh well.
